Suspect of attacking opposition activists detained in Yerevan

Arthur Aivazyan is suspected of an armed attack on members of the "Elk" oppositional bloc, committed on March 31, the Armenian Police has reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening of March 31, in Yerevan, there was a fight of the members of the election office of the oppositional bloc "Elk" with four unidentified persons. One of the attackers tried to use a pistol, said Nikol Pashinyan, an MP.

The spokesman for the Armenian Police told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the police of Yerevan had detained the 40-year-old Artur Aivazyan on suspicion of assaulting the oppositionists.

According to his story, a criminal case has been initiated against the detainee under Part 2, Article 258 of the Armenian Criminal Code (hooliganism committed with the use of violence).
