Igor Kalyapin asks Ramzan Kadyrov to intervene in conflict in Davydenko

Igor Kalyapin, the leader of the "Committee for the Prevention of Torture", used Facebook to address Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov with a request to investigate the situation in the village of Davydenko where local residents reported the forceful dispersal of the villagers' gathering.

On March 26, in the village of Davydenko, Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya, a conflict broke out of local residents with power agents. According to villagers, employees of the administration claimed 75,000 roubles from tenants of several houses; and when they refused to pay, they brought in construction machines accompanied by policemen. There was a skirmish, during which power agents beat up tenants and detained three of them.

On his Facebook page, Igor Kalyapin published a video about the gathering in the village of Davydenko held on March 26.

The video posted on YouTube captures the moment with the emotional speeches delivered by women in the Chechen language.

"Dear Mr Kadyrov, dear Ramzan Akhmatovich. Would you investigate the situation by yourself, or should I appeal to the General Prosecutor's Office again? I hope that your officials and prosecutors have sufficient knowledge of the Chechen language and do not need an interpreter? Otherwise, I can interpret the speeches, it presents no difficulty for me," wrote Igor Kalyapin.
