Nesterenko’s defence states threat to his life at IVS

Nikolai Nesterenko, the Deputy Ataman of Anapa, has warned his advocates that he could be poisoned at the temporary detention facility (known as IVS), where he is held as accused of fraud.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to investigators, the Deputy Ataman had filed a lawsuit against the administration of Anapa about granting him into ownership of a municipal land plot. He presented copies of the appeal to the administration, which in fact was a fake; and the court obliged the city administration to sign a contract of sale with Nesterenko. According to his defence, investigators refer to documents that Nesterenko did not sign at all.

For the time of the trial, Nikolai Nesterenko was transferred from the Krasnodar SIZO (pre-trial prison) to the IVS in Anapa, Dmitri Nesterenko, Nikolai’s brother told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. As it became known at the court session in the evening on March 7, at the IVS Nikolai Nesterenko received information that he could be poisoned.

"I don’t know who specifically gave this information. But Nikolai really fears for his life,” said Dmitri, adding that after the session, the defence turned to IVS bosses demanding to provide security measures to the client. Besides, an application was lodged to the police.
