Native of Dagestan arrested in Moscow on charge of sponsoring IS

Shamil Nurmagomedov, commercial director of one of the Moscow Region companies, a native of Makhachkala, accused of sponsoring the terrorist organization "Islamic state" (IS), banned in Russia, was arrested by the court's decision. Shamil Nurmagomedov tried to return home his brother, who stayed in Syria. This was reported by the defendant's defence.

According to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), Shamil Nurmagomedov sponsored the IS and provided financial help to members of the armed underground for purchase of tickets to Turkey. On January 16, a criminal case was instituted against Shamil Nurmagomedov. On February 1, a formal charge was brought against him, report investigators.

In 2013, a brother of the defendant left for Syria, and his family members tried to bring him home until October 2015. This was reported by the defence of Shamil Nurmagomedov.

According to the defence, today, the Shamil Nurmagomedov's brother stays in the territory of Ukraine. "He is willing to return home, but he does not know how the authorities will meet him," said the advocate.
