ICA states its readiness to settle the conflict with KAFFED

An appeal to the Turkish Federation of Caucasian Associations (KAFFED) to resume contacts with the International Circassian Association (ICA) was addressed by Asker Sokht, the deputy head of "Adyge Khase" of the KrasnodarTerritory. His appeal was supported by Khauti Sokhrokov, the President of the ICA, and Ali Aslanov, its member.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in September 2016, Russia deported Yashar Aslankaya (Khagundoko), the Vice-President of the ICA and the Chairman of the KAFFED. Yashar has a ban on entering Russia until 2020; the reasons for such a decision were not explained to him.

On December 18, 2016, the KAFFED decided to suspend its membership in the ICA.

Asker Sokht, a member of the Council of the ICA, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the participants of the meeting of the KAFFED had accused the leadership of the ICA of inaction and disregarding the position of the KAFFED. The crisis in the ICA "is a matter of deep concern of the Circassian community of Russia," says an open letter of Asker Sokht, released today.

He has suggested that "the crisis of the ICA with the KAFFED may be overcome based on the Charter of the ICA and goodwill." Mr Sokht has also emphasized that member organizations of the ICA are ready for a dialogue with the KAFFED and its President Yashar Aslankaya.
