Chechen soldiers to stay longer in Syria

Soldiers of the military police battalion, sent in December 2016 to Syria from Chechnya, will stay there till March. This was reported by a source from the law enforcement bodies. Meanwhile, at least one more military unit prepares to leave Chechnya for Syria, reports a source from the former military battalion "Sever" (North), included in the National Guard of the Russian Federation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 23, Ramzan Kadyrov said that natives of Chechnya serve at the military police battalion of the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) in the Syrian city of Aleppo.

It was earlier planned that Chechen soldiers will stay in Syria till late January, reports a source from the law enforcement bodies.

One of the Chechen soldiers has noted that soldiers and officers of the National Guard treat their possible trip to Syria with understanding.

Family members of the soldiers sent to Syria have been informed that their relatives will stay longer in Syria.

Umar, a resident of Grozny, has reported that his nephew serves in Syria now. According to the Grozny resident, Syria is in the state of civil war, and it is unacceptable for Muslims to take part in the hostilities on the side of one of the parties to the conflict.
