On November 21-27, 2016, four persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of November 21-27, 2016, four persons were killed in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. No wounded were reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll includes two law enforcers and two suspected members of the armed underground, all of them in Ingushetia.

Special and counter terrorist operations

At 6:30 a.m. Moscow time of November 24, in Ingushetia, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime was introduced in the city of Nazran. Law enforcers cordoned off a private house in Abadiev Street. The armed men who were inside the house refused to surrender. They let out a woman who stayed with them in the cordoned-off house, while they themselves opened fire and killed two fighters of special forces. As a result of the armed clash, two suspected militants were killed. No civilians suffered, since residents of the houses located next to the place of the special operation were evacuated. According to a source from the law enforcement bodies, the killed suspects were identified as Iliev father and son. When clearing the ruins at the place of the special operation, FSB agents discovered a hiding with a large number of weapons and ammunition. The CTO legal regime was lifted at 3:00 p.m.

On November 26, the CTO legal regime was introduced within the territories of the Kazbek, Kizilyurt, and Khasavyurt Districts of Dagestan. According to an official from the operational headquarters, in the special operation zone, law enforcers are engaged in search for members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) and their possible accomplices.

Detentions

At about 12:00 a.m. of November 22, in the resort area of the city of Nalchik, law enforcers of Kabardino-Balkaria detained a man suspected of aiding and abetting members of an IAF.

On November 24, in the village of Nasyr-Kort on the outskirts of Nazran, law enforcers detained 40-year-old Khasan Djandigov and carried out a search in his house. During his detention, law enforcers discovered a "hattabka" (improvised grenade) and a handful of bullets.
