Militaries report surpassing the plan of demining Chechnya

Military sappers have exceeded the current year's plan for demining the territory of Chechnya by 50 percent. The works on clearing the land of explosives will last until the end of November, said the Military Commandant of Chechnya.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Commandant that since April 1 to November 10, the engineering-demining units of the Ministry of Defence demined the area of more than 3600 hectares in Chechnya.

Overall, they found and destroyed 450 explosive items, ranging from unexploded artillery shells up to hand grenades.

This year, the demining of agrarian and forest land was conducted in six districts of Chechnya: the Achkhoy-Martan, Grozny, Kurchaloy, Vedeno, Shali and Sunzha Districts.

Military sappers have been involved in demining Chechnya since 2012. It is planned to fully complete the demining works in Chechnya by the end of next year.
