In Rostov-on-Don, two men sentenced for recruiting fighters for Syrian militants

On August 29, the North-Caucasian District Military Court sentenced Rakhmanzhan Zakhidov and Ruslan Adilov to four years of imprisonment. They were found guilty of recruiting residents of the Astrakhan Region for joining illegal armed formations (IAFs) in the territory of Syria.

According to the North-Caucasian District Military Court, Rakhmanzhan Zakhidov and Ruslan Adilov persuaded residents of the Astrakhan Region to commit crimes of terrorist and extremist nature.

In particular, the Court has found out that Rakhmanzhan Zakhidov and Ruslan Adilov recruited Muslims from Astrakhan residents and called them on to join the ranks of illegal armed formations and to go to fight in Syria, the "Interfax-South" reported on August 29 with reference to Alyona Katkalo, the press secretary of the North-Caucasian District Military Court.

Both defendants have fully admitted their guilt, and the case against them was considered under special procedure, that is, without examination of evidence, officials of the Court report.
