In Georgia, seven persons detained on charge of plotting terror act on gas pipeline

In Georgia, seven persons were detained on the charge of involvement in plotting a terror act on the gas pipeline, supplying gas from Russia to Armenia.

The detention was reported by the State Security Service of Georgia. According to its information, the explosion was to be committed in 20 km from Tbilisi.

Investigators have found out that the criminals were plotting to blow up the opening section of the gas pipeline near the Aragvi River not far from the village of Saguramo, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

"On August 20, five citizens of Georgia were detained on the fact of illegal purchase and possession of firearms, ammunition and explosive substances to commit a terror act," reports the State Security Service of Georgia as quoted by the "TASS".

According to the State Security Service of Georgia, the detainees went to the forest near the highway Zhinvali-Shatili where they got weapons and explosives hidden in the forest. At that moment, they were detained.

Besides, one Georgian policeman was detained in connection with "exceeding his official authority", and one citizen was detained for failure to report on the preparation of the crime.
