Andrias Gukasyan goes on hunger strike

Andrias Gukasyan, the leader of the Movement "Get up, Armenia!", arrested on charges of mass riots, has demanded from the nation "to restore justice."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 29, a march in support of the capturers of the police building in Yerevan was dispersed by power agents, after which 73 marchers applied for medical aid. During the march, near the Sari Tag District, the crowd split into two groups. The police then reported that among the leaders of one of the groups was Andrias Gukasyan, and of the other – Armen Martirosyan. At night on July 30, the oppositionists were detained. On August 1, it was reported that Gukasyan was charged with organization of mass riots in Yerevan on July 29.

Andrias Gukasyan announced the start of his hunger strike today, at the session of the court of general jurisdiction of administrative districts Arabkir-Kanaker-Zeitun, his advocate Lusine Sahakyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

A similar entry was made on Andrias Gukasyan's page on the Facebook, reading that "the hunger strike is endless." It also notes that "in Armenia the power belongs to the people." "I demand from the people of Armenia to approve constitutional law and justice by all means," the politician writes.
