Resident of Kabardino-Balkaria to stand trial on charge of involvement in IS

The case on involvement of Zhamal Tumenov, a resident of Kabardino-Balkaria, in the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia, has been sent to the court.

According to the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia, Zhamal Tumenov is charged under Articles of "involvement in activities of a terrorist organization", "involvement in illicit trafficking of weapons and ammunition as a member of an organized grouping", and "illicit drug trafficking".

"The investigators suggest that in September 2015, while in Nalchik, Zhamal Tumenov joined an IS unit. His duties were to supply the militants with money and vehicles for their transportation and to store weapons and ammunition," reports the website of the General Prosecutor's Office.

According to the General Prosecutor's Office, in November 2015, Zhamal Tumenov "got weapons and ammunition, as well as drugs, from other members of the terrorist organization for storage." "All the above banned items were seized during his detention. The court has pronounced the pre-trial restriction measure against Zhamal Tumenov in the form of detention," reports the message of the General Prosecutor's Office.
