Murat Kashirgov dies in Khabarovsk penal colony

Murat Kashirgov, who was sentenced for the attack on Nalchik, died in a punishment cell of the penal colony, located in Khabarovsk. This has been reported today by journalist Nadezhda Kevorkova.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the criminal case on the attack on Nalchik, the court of first instance sentenced Murat Kashirgov to 17 years of imprisonment. On January 28, 2016, the judicial board on criminal cases of the Supreme Court (SC) of Russia pronounced the decision to reduce Murat Kashirgov's sentence to 16 years and 3 months imprisonment.

On October 13, 2005, during the attack on Nalchik, in total 35 law enforcers and servicemen, 14 civilians and 92 attackers were killed. The trial was running since 2008.

Today, on her Facebook page, journalist Nadezhda Kevorkova has reported on the death of Murat Kashirgov in the penal colony in Khabarovsk.

Till present, no comments on the information about the Murat Kashirgov's death are available from officials of the Department for the Khabarovsk Territory of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN).

During the trial in the criminal case on the attack on Nalchik, Murat Kashirgov filed motions to call doctors for medical care. He also complained of torture; however, following the results on the verification of his complaints, investigators refused to initiate criminal proceedings.
