Tenants of destroyed house in Sochi demand new housing

Family members of Angelina Sokolskaya from Sochi have complained about the city Mayoralty to the Prosecutor's Office. They live in a dilapidated house, built 110 years ago, and assert that the Mayoralty fails to fulfil the resolution "on resettling residents from shabby houses into comfortable housing."

Half of the house had collapsed earlier; it has no walls, roof, windows, doors and floor. During the Olympics, it was surrounded by a fence, not to spoil the appearance of the city of Winter Games.

The head of the family – the 63-year-old pensioner Angelina Sokolskaya – lives in the house with three adult children and a young granddaughter.

During the time that elapsed after the adoption of the above resolution, the family has privatized the house; however, as Angelina Sokolskaya told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, the officials provided them with false information about the need for privatization.

According to her story, the Prosecutor's Office must reverse the actions of the Mayoralty, which failed to resettle her family, decided to settle it again by outsiders and privatize the dilapidated house.

"The house is dilapidated, not in emergency condition; it was fully privatized in 2016; and now the owners themselves have to take care of its condition," said a source from the Mayoralty.

Besides, according to officials, the land under the house belongs to the municipality.

The tenants, living in dilapidated and emergency houses, must be immediately resettled and provided with housing according to social norms, said the advocate Roman Klykov.
