In Kabardino-Balkaria, teacher to face trial on charge of helping militants

In Kabardino-Balkaria, the criminal case against a school teacher, who, according to investigators, used to provide militants with shelter and food, has been sent to court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 15, a 34-year-old mathematics teacher of secondary school was detained in the village of Gerpegezh. According to law enforcers, they found firearms in his car. Later, the detainee confessed that he harboured in his house Mir-Zurab Asadulagi and Zeitun Boziev (both men were killed by law enforcers in January 2013), who, according to the investigators, were involved a number of resonant murders in Kabardino-Balkaria.

The indictment in the criminal case against Albert Khotov, accused of aiding and abetting members of illegal armed formations (IAFs), as well as of illegal possession and carrying of firearms, was approved by Ivan Sydoruk, Deputy General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation.

The investigators believe that in December 2012, in the Cherek District of Kabardino-Balkaria, Albert Khotov "voluntarily assisted Mir-Zurab Asadulagi, one of the leaders of the 'South-Eastern Sector' of the 'United Vilayat of Kabarda, Balkaria and Karachay', and his accomplices," reports the website of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation.

The criminal case was sent to the Cherek District Court for trial.

Meanwhile, earlier, an official of the Gerpegezh village administration has informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the suspect enjoyed a good reputation at the school, where he worked as a teacher, and his arrest became a complete surprise for his friends.
