Sochi: two persons wounded in explosion of gas cylinder in residential building
In Sochi, two persons have been injured as a result of the explosion of a gas cylinder in a two-storey residential building. The other tenants of the house were evacuated. In total, the house accommodated 129 people.
According to the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), at 11:10 p.m. of January 22, a gas cylinder exploded in a house in Poltavskaya Street in the Central District of Sochi.
"A gas cylinder had exploded. No fire occurred. Some people fell victim to the explosion. No bearing structures were destroyed. People were evacuated from the second floor," reports the website of the MfE's Chief Department for the Krasnodar Territory.
As a result of the explosion, two persons with thermal burns were brought to hospital, the "TASS" reports today with reference to a staff member of the Southern Regional Emergency Centre of the Russian MfE.
According to him, the building in Poltavskaya Street is a former dormitory, transferred to housing stock. The building includes 43 apartments, which accommodated 129 people, the MfE notes.
