Rights defenders criticize investigators' version of Kuashev's nonviolent death

The investigation into the death of Timur Kuashev, a journalist from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), is being conducted formally, said Magomed Mutsolgov, the leader of the organization named "Mashr". The version of his death from coronary heart disease is inconclusive, said Valery Khatazhukov, the chairman of the KBR's Human Rights Centre.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 15 this year, Valery Ustov, the head of the Investigating Department for the KBR of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), said that experts had found a trace of injection on Kuashev's body. However, on December 24, Ustov stated, referring to experts, that Kuashev had died of an acute coronary insufficiency; and that no traces of poisoning had been found.

In the opinion of Mutsolgov, the murder of Kuashev will never be disclosed. The rights defender also noted that he did not trust the investigators' versions.

Valery Khatazhukov has added that Kuashev led a healthy life and never complained of any heart problems.

Arsen Beituganov, a candidate of medicine and a cardiologist from Moscow Clinic No. 6, has explained that there are a number of unrecognized heart diseases, which can lead to a sudden death.

Lat us remind you that after it became known that there is a trace of injection on Kuashev's body, experts said about the similarity of the circumstances of the deaths of Kuashev and Ruslan Magomedragimov, an activist of the "Sadval" movement.
