Human rights organization "Mashr" put on list of "foreign agents"

The Ingush human rights organization "Mashr" has been included in the register of non-commercial organizations carrying out functions of "foreign agents", the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) reports.

On April 14, 2005, the autonomous non-commercial organization "Mashr" was established in the city of Nazran by relatives of kidnapped people. In Ingush language, the word "Mashr" means "peace". The founders of the organization led by activist Magomed Mutsolgov determined for themselves the following objectives: provision of legal protection to the population, implementation of public monitoring of compliance with human rights and freedoms on the territory of Ingushetia and other regions of Russia, promotion and implementation of the ideals of peace, humanism, compassion and humanity, and the principles of international law with respect to all people.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 6, in Ingushetia, men in masks searched the office of the Ingush human rights organization "Mashr" and the house of its leader Magomed Mutsolgov. On December 7, it became known that the Supreme Court (SC) of Ingushetia found that the materials, obtained during the inspection of the human rights organization, contained confidential information.

"The non-commercial organization 'Human Rights Organization 'Mashr'' has been included in the register of non-commercial organizations carrying out functions of foreign agents," reports the statement posted on the website of the Russian MoJ on December 8.

Let us remind you that Ingush public activists called the law enforcers' actions with regard to the "Mashr" and Magomed Mutsolgov "politically motivated."
