Court grants Kislovodsk Imam's complaint about inaction of investigating bodies

The Kislovodsk City Court has granted the complaint filed about the inaction of the officials who conducted the check of the report on the death threat against Imam Kurman-Ali Baichorov. The Court has pronounced the ruling on elimination of the violations committed. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 12 Baichorov was sentenced to 3.5 years of imprisonment and a fine of 50,000 roubles on charges of illegal drug dealing. The Imam refused to plead guilty and claimed that the drugs were planted on him.

On October 30, the Kislovodsk City Court considered the complaint filed by the defence of Imam Kurman-Ali Baichorov, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Nadezhda Ermolaeva, an advocate of the Imam.

According to the advocate, the Court has found illegal the inaction of the investigator during the period from January to April, the inaction of the head of the investigating body during the entire period, while the material was at the investigating body, and the inaction of his deputy during the period from September 10 till present.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 27, advocates of Kurman-Ali Baichorov filed a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). In the complaint, they have stated that the Imam's right to defence, fair trial and freedom of conscience had been violated during the trial in his case.
