Communal accidents leave residents of Dagestan without gas and water supply

Today, six villages in Dagestan have been deprived of gas supply after a leak in the high pressure gas pipeline in the Babayurt District. Residents of the Lenin District of Makhachkala are deprived of water supply because of damage to water pipes.

At 9:30 a.m. Moscow time, the Chief Office for the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) received the information that as a result of a leak in the high pressure gas pipeline, six villages of the Babayurt District are deprived of gas supply.

At 10:00 a.m. Moscow time, the emergency shutdown of water supply occurred in Makhachkala. The zone of shutdown includes 1500 subscribers of the Lenin District of Makhachkala, and a number of socially important facilities are also deprived of water supply.

Staff members of the "Vodokanal" are engaged in emergency repair work, and they expect to restore water supply by 9:00 a.m. Moscow time of October 24, reports the website of the Chief Office for the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian MfE.

The water pipe was damaged by an individual as a result of uncoordinated actions during construction works, reports the website of the Makhachkala city administration.
