KBR leader demands active work from antiterrorist commissions
Increased efforts to ensure safety and activation of antiterrorist commissions should be the key objectives for the authorities in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), Yuri Kokov, the republic's leader, has stated.
Today, the capital Nalchik has hosted an expanded sitting of the republic's government dedicated to summing up the preliminary results of the KBR's socio-economic development for eight months of this year.
To intensify the work of antiterrorist commissions, Mr Kokov has suggested attaching the heads of ministries and agencies to the schools, where they once studied. He said that senior officials should be directly involved in the educational process and practice meetings with pupils, the website of the head of the KBR reports.
Within the series of events dated to the Solidarity Day in Fight on Terrorism, which is marked in Russia on September 3, the republic is holding meetings with pupils to discuss counteracting terrorism, the RIA "Kabardino-Balkaria" reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in summer the situation in the KBR became tense; and power agents conducted a series of special operations. In June, four suspected militants were killed. In July, nine suspected members of the armed underground and two law enforcers were killed. In August, in the course of a counterterrorist operation (CTO) in Nalchik, six people were killed.
