Two KBR residents found guilty of terrorism

In Rostov-on-Don, the North-Caucasian District Military Court sentenced Akhmat Ulbashev and Zafir Miziev, residents of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), to 14 and seven years of imprisonment on charges of terrorist activities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 7, the North-Caucasian Military Court began to consider the trial against Akhmat Ulbashev and Zafira Mizieva. Akhmat Ulbashev is charged under Articles "training in order to carry out terrorist activity", "arms trafficking", and "illegal manufacture of weapons", Zafir Miziev under Article "arms trafficking". Both of them plead not guilty.

The North-Caucasian Military Court has found out that in November 2013, Akhmat Ulbashev attended a three-week training in Syria in the ISIL camps (ISIL – Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, starting from June 2014 – the Islamic State (IS). The organization is recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia, the United States, Turkey, and a number of other countries, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"). After returning to Russia, Akhmat Ulbashev joined the local radical Islamic organization "United Vilayat of Kabarda, Balkaria and Karachay" (the organization is recognized as extremist by the decision of the Supreme Court of the KBR). In February 2014, Akhmat Ulbashev made two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and gave them to a leader of a local grouping of militants. Akhmat Ulbashev gave to Miziev 40 rounds of ammunition and a grenade.

Besides, Akhmat Ulbashev is found guilty of storing at home two pistols, two grenades, and components for an IED, the "Interfax-South" reports with reference to the press service of the North-Caucasian Military Court.
