Young European MPs study situation in Nagorno-Karabakh

More than 60 members of the European Youth Parliament (EYP) from ten countries have completed the information visit to Nagorno-Karabakh. Delegates came with the aim to study the problem of the Karabakh conflict at the place.

The visit of the MPs took place on August 22-24, and it was organized by the initiative of the Armenian Branch of the EYP and the Karabakh NGO "Artsakhakertum".

"The delegation included young people from Armenia, Russia, France, Serbia, Lithuania, Poland, Iran, Lebanon, Palestine, the United States, and Nagorno-Karabakh. Besides sightseeing, we organized a meeting with Karen Mirzoyan, Foreign Minister of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. At the meeting, the Minister described the political situation in the region," the "Caucasian Knot" was informed by Artak Beglaryan, co-Chairman of the public organization "Artsakhakertum".

He believes that the visit of the EYP activists enables them to learn about the history and culture of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Meanwhile, Artak Beglaryan has also noted that the delegates were warned about the so-called "black list" of Azerbaijan, in which they can be included and thus they can lose the possibility to visit Azerbaijan; however, according to him, they "did not retract their decision to visit Nagorno-Karabakh."

The Armenian experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" in early August have stated that, in their opinion, the tension on the border of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan will continue; however, the deterioration of the situation in the conflict zone can be avoided.
