Protests in Armenia and Permyakov's case have not spoiled Armenian-Russian relations

The protest actions against the increase of electricity tariff, as well as the massacre of the Avetisyan family in Gyumri, have not quarrelled Armenia with Russia, despite the presence of the Russian factor on both of them. This opinion was expressed by Armenian political analysts, who believe that the reason is in the absence of anti-Russian sentiments in Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the decision to pass the case of the mass murder in Gyumri to the Armenian party coincided with large-scale protest actions in Armenia against the decision to increase the electricity tariff, which started on June 19.

In the opinion of Ruben Megrabyan, a political analyst and an expert of the Centre for Political and International Studies, Armenia is not configured to quarrel with Russia, but Armenian-Russian relations depend on short-term interests of Russia itself and of its perception of this or that event in Armenia.

According to Manvel Sarkisyan, a political scientist and the Director of the Armenian Centre for National and International Studies, at first Russia was very jealous both about the massacre in Gyumri and protest actions against tariff increase, but then changed its attitude, while making sure that there was nothing anti-Russian in these events.
