Residents of Nasyr-Kort stand for peaceful resolution to conflict around mosque

Supporters and opponents of the Ingush Imam Khamzat Chumakov have expressed their wish to peacefully resolve the conflict situation that had arisen around the mosque in the village of Nasyr-Kort. The authorities believe that the conflict has been already settled. However, the opponents of the Imam Khamzat Chumakov believe that the reconciliation should take place in the presence of the Mufti.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 4, in Nasyr-Kort, fire was opened in the course of the conflict between mosque-goers belonging to Yevloev and Ozdoev teips. The conflict has arisen from the Imam Khamzat Chumakov's decision to cancel collective Friday prayers.

On June 12, the Friday prayer at the mosque was attended by the Ingush leader. No incidents occurred.

According to Alikhan Tumgoev, the Mayor of Nazran (the Nasyr-Kort District is a part of Nazran, note of the "Caucasian Knot"), both supporters and opponents of Khamzat Chumakov have approved the position of the Ingush leader. Alikhan Tumgoev believes that the conflict between the parties has been already settled and that the fact is proven by the common reconciliation on last Friday at the mosque of Nasyr-Kort.

Ibragim Chumakov, a brother of the Imam of the Nasyr-Kort mosque, said that his brother Khamzat "says nothing illegal" in his sermons. "He stands for the integrity of our country. I believe a lot of Muslims of the republic listen to his sermons and support him," Ibragim Chumakov has noted. Ibragim Chumakov believes that the supporters of his brother are willing to make concessions.

Earlier, Khamzat Chumakov and his supporters have claimed that they stand only for peaceful means of the conflict resolution.
