Imam Khamzat Chumakov asks Vladimir Putin to take measures to prevent escalation of conflict in Nasyr-Kort mosque

Imam Khamzat Chumakov has sent an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of law enforcement agencies in connection with the incident occurred at the mosque of the village of Nasyr-Kort. The religious leader has claimed that his opponents tried to provoke a mass fight at the mosque during the Friday sermon.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 4 and 5, in Ingushetia, a conflict occurred between mosque-goers in the village of Nasyr-Kort. According to law enforcers, no one suffered in the conflict.

On June 5, the appeal of Khamzat Chumakov was addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov, Alexander Bastrykin, the Chief of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), and Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the Minister of Internal Affairs (MIA).

In his appeal, a copy of which is available to the "Caucasian Knot", the Imam reports on provocation of mass fight during the Friday sermon held at the Nasyr-Kort mosque on June 5. According to the author of the appeal, the mass fight "almost turned into a massacre."

Khamzat Chumakov demands to take "urgent measures to prevent possible escalation of the conflict in the region" and punish the persons responsible for an attempt to organize "mass disorders accompanied by violence and violation of the rights to freedom of conscience and religion."
