Six natives of Chechnya arrested in France on terrorism charges, Le Figaro reports

Six natives of Chechnya, detained in Paris on charges of involvement in recruiting militants for the warfare in Syria, have been arrested in France, the Le Figaro has reported.

According to the newspaper, six natives from Chechnya were detained on February 8 in the city of Albi and in a Toulouse suburb. On February 12, they were charged with involvement in terrorist groupings and financing terrorism.

Investigators believe that the defendants helped to send warriors to Syria to fight for the militants, including the fundraising and logistic support. Law enforcers suggest that one of the detainees is the head of the unit, which was sending militants.

The defendants are from 32 to 38 years old. Four of them have the status of political refugees; one is of Franco-Russian origin, and the sixth one received French citizenship in 2009, Le Figaro writes, citing its source from the judiciary.
