POC members not admitted to Ekazhevo resident detained after shooting at wedding party

Policemen did not allow the members of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Ingushetia to visit the specialized ward Ingush Republic's Clinical Hospital (IRCH), which is keeping Magomed Aushev, who was detained after shooting at a wedding party, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has reported. Earlier, Aushev's relatives said that he had been beaten and tortured after detention.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 20, in Ingushetia, Magomed Aushev, a resident of the Ingush village of Ekazhevo, Nazran District, was detained as a suspect of shooting from a car in the wedding cortege. After the detention, Magomed Aushev was tortured and beaten, his brother Murad Aushev said on December 24. On December 23, Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the human rights organization "MASHR", the head of the Republic's POC, who is also the author of a blog run on the "Caucasian Knot", was not allowed to visit Magomed Aushev in the hospital.

On December 24, the members of the POC Magomed and Ruslan Mutsolgov also could not examine Aushev's custody conditions. "Later, Djambulat Ozdoev (the Ingush Ombudsperson, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") was also not allowed into the special ward, where Aushev is kept. The on duty policeman referred to the order of the bosses of the Ingush MIA. Later Ozdoev requested in writing information from the MIA about the person who issued the order not to let him into the special ward. Ozdoev intends to achieve an administrative punishment of this official. He has also sent an application about the non-admission and torture of Aushev to the Republic's Prosecutor's Office," says the release of the HRC "Memorial".
