Rostov journalist Alexander Tolmachov is sentenced to nine years of imprisonment

Alexander Tolmachov, a Rostov journalist and publisher, accused of extortion, has been sentenced to nine years in a high-security penal colony.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2011, Alexander Tolmachov was taken in custody and charged with extortion. His case is under consideration at the Cossack village of Kuschevskaya of the KrasnodarTerritory. On October 13, public prosecutor requested to sentence the journalist to nine years in a penal colony. Alexander Tolmachov himself pleads not guilty.

Today, the court has found Alexander Tolmachov guilty under all charges against him and sentenced him to nine years in s high-security penal colony and one year of restriction of freedom, the "Caucasian Knot" has been told by human rights defender Yuri Golubev, who listened to the announcement of the verdict.
