Frontier Service of Ukraine reports detention of 13 persons on border with Rostov Region
On May 30, Ukrainian law enforcers recorded a breakthrough of armed men in vehicles from the section of border with the Rostov Region of Russia. As a result, five persons were detained. This was reported by the State Frontier Service of Ukraine.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 27, Ukrainian border guards also claimed a breakthrough of the border from the direction of the Rostov Region.
According to the State Frontier Service of Ukraine, at night of May 30, a new incident occurred. The border guards have detained two Gazel vans, which were travelling from the Russian side, and a Mercedes Vito car, which met them. The border guards seized from the cars 28 Kalashnikov submachine guns, six machine guns, three "Mukha" (Fly) rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launchers, four sniper rifles and 40 boxes with ammunition and grenades. This was reported by the "Interfax-Ukraine" with reference to the press service of the State Frontier Service of Ukraine.
In total, the Ukrainian border guards detained 13 persons. According to the State Border Service of Ukraine, the number of the passengers in one of the Gazel cars included a woman, who had 10,000 US dollars with her.
On May 30, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) handed over to the Russian side an official note of protest with a demand to provide explanations regarding the violation of the Russian-Ukrainian border. This was declared in the statement posted on the website of the Ukrainian MFA on May 30.
