Rudomakha: Deputy Public Prosecutor of Krasnodar Territory petitions to cancel Vitishko's colony term
As reported by Andrei Rudomakha, the coordinator of the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch), a petition to cancel the ruling of the Tuapse District Court on Evgeny Vitishko's placement into colony for three years, was put forward by the Deputy Public Prosecutor of the Krasnodar Territory.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 20, 2012, Evgeny Vitishko was sentenced to three years of probation on charges of damaging the fence around the site, known as the summer cottage of the Kuban Governor Alexander Tkachov. On December 20, 2013, the court changed probation for real colony; and Evgeny was convoyed to a colony in the Tambov Region.
The date of considering the Deputy Prosecutor's motion by the Krasnodar Territorial Court is still unknown, said Rudomakha.
The case of Vitishko, who criticized the organization of the Sochi Olympics, had caused broad public resonance and attracted the attention of international human rights organizations, in particular, of the Human Rights Watch and the Amnesty International.
