In Armenia, about 30 Yazidis hold rally in support of their compatriots in Iraq

On May 15, in Armenia, in front of the UN Office in Yerevan, about thirty representatives of the Yazidi community held a rally in support of their compatriots living in Iraq. According to the protestors, their Iraqi compatriots are subjected to regular attacks. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the protesters, their action was held because of an incident in the Iraqi town of Rabbin located near the border with Syria and populated mainly by Yazidis. The protestors stated that in Rabbin, fighters of radical groupings publicly shot and killed seven Yazidis, and after that, more than 4000 of Yazidis migrated to other places.

The participants of the protest action have passed a letter to a representative of the UN Office. In their letter, they, in particular, described the situation faced by the Yazidis of Iraq.

"Every day, we hear news that in Iraq, our brothers and sisters are being killed, and they are being killed by motives of religious and ethnic grounds... We want to attract the attention of the international community to the events in Iraq, and we also hope that the international organizations will respond to the situation with specific actions," the letter states.
