Two Chechen residents are suspected of extortion under guise of Ramzan Kadyrov's subordinates

In Chechnya, a former staff member of the Council for Economic and Social Security (CESS) and an elderly man were detained on suspicion of extorting money. This was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" by a source in the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

When making attempts for illicit enrichment, both detainees used to introduce themselves as relatives of top-ranking officials. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" by an officer of the Chechen police.

"In the past, the first detainee really used to work as a CESS staff member. However, some time ago, he was found guilty of committing illegal acts and dismissed from his position. Thereafter, he started his deceitful practice. Visargov used his invalid certificate of a CESS agent, came to the heads of rural dwelling settlements and extorted bribes. In some cases, he introduced himself as a representative of the Chechen leader, and in others as a staff member of the CESS," the Chechen law enforcer has said.

According to the Chechen law enforcer, the second detainee, an elderly resident of Chechnya, used to introduce himself as a cousin uncle of the Chechen leader. He visited bankers and businessmen and offered them his mediation in obtaining profitable contracts.

"In accordance with the instruction of the leader of the Chechen republic, we have started investigation with regard to both detainees," the law enforcer has emphasized.
