Seven protesters against renaming Mashtots Mini-Park detained in Yerevan

Today, the Yerevan police have detained seven protesters who opposed renaming the Mashtots Mini-Park in honour of the hero of France of Armenian origin Misak Manushyan, said Ani Khachatryan, one of the activists.

According to her story, ecologists were conducting a peaceful action demanding not to rename the Mashtots Mini-Park, when policemen approached them and, without explanation, drove them to the police station.

"Without any grounds, policemen came up to us and began pushing to the cars, while addressing us with disrespectful words," Ani Khachatryan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

She added that the modest action was attended by no more than 15-17 people.

The detainees said that they intend to go to the court and claim compensation for the ungrounded actions of the policemen.
