Lawyers for the defendants in case of terror act in Vladikavkaz marketplace disagree with the verdict
The advocates of those accused of committing crimes in the territory of Ingushetia and North Ossetia, including the terror act in the marketplace of Vladikavkaz in 2010, expressed their disagreement with the verdict passed by the North-Caucasian District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don and announced their intention to appeal against it.
The court has found that Issa Khashagulgov and Khizar Daurbekov were involved in making and planting the bomb that exploded in the marketplace of Vladikavkaz on September 9, 2010, and wounded 472 people; 19 of them died.
It was also found that the defendants had been involved in a number of assaults and attacks on law enforcers.
Madina Masagova, the aunt of Mikail Khashagulgov, believes his nephew was unfairly sentenced. The woman claims that the "suicide belt" that was found in their house, had been planted.
The lawyer Magomed Gagiev, who defended Khizar Daurbekov, said that the role that was assigned to his client by militants' leaders was just to drive the car; and it was not worth such severe punishment. According to Gagiev, Khizar Daurbekov was not involved in planning the terror act, but "he only once transferred a militant, not knowing where and for what purpose he was moving," the newspaper "Kommersant" reports.
The paper further notes that in the course of the proceedings more than ten civil claims were filed by the victims for compensation of moral harm; however, the court did not consider them, giving the right to the claimants to defend their interests in a civil court.
