Sochi court obliges Mayoralty to immediately provide housing to needy family

A court in the city of Sochi has ordered the Mayoralty to give an apartment, away of the waiting list, to a family with small children, which became homeless eight years ago because of a fire.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Desdemona Djamburiya, a Sochi resident, since 2006 cannot receive an apartment from the Mayoralty instead of her burnt-down house. Apartment high-rise blocks have been erected in place of her burnt house; however, there is still no flat for the victims of the fire.

On March 14, the court rejected the motion of the Mayoralty's representative to restore the term for filing a complaint against the decision of the court of December 24, 2013, according to which the decision of the Mayor to refuse to provide housing to Djamburiya's family, consisting of eight persons, was nullified.

The Mayoralty has violated the rights of a large family, Elena Chuprina, who has represented the Prosecutor's Office at the trial, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

However, Yana Polyanitsa, who represented the Sochi Mayoralty in the court, said the decision was unlawful – she argued that "the Djamburiya's house was not recognized as an emergency one."
