Public local lore movement "For Our Vladikavkaz" founded in North Ossetia
About 30 people have attended the foundation conference of the public movement "For Our Vladikavkaz", held in the capital of North Ossetia. The initiators report that they intend to implement projects related to the development of the urban ambient, environment protection and improvement of the tourist potential.
Kazbek Tautiev, a journalist and one of the initiators, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the delegates spoke in favour of the official registration at the respective department of the Ministry of Justice of Russia for the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
In the opinion of Fuza Gagieva, a museum veteran, in 2014, the city will celebrate the 230th anniversary of Vladikavkaz; and activists of the new movement should focus on different areas related to the date.
She finds it reasonable to remind residents and visitors of Vladikavkaz about the historical memory, preserved in the toponymy of the city.
"Life of outstanding people, historical events, work and life of many generations – all this varied and rich world of the past is read in the names of the streets. Specifically, they are named in honour of poets and writers, who lived and worked here: Alexander Griboyedov, Alexander Pushkin, Mikhail Lermontov, Anton Chekhov, Leo Tolstoy, Maxim Gorky and Mikhail Bulgakov," Ms Gagieva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
