Defence of convicted Rostov blogger Sergey Reznik files complaint against verdict

The defence of Sergey Reznik, a convicted blogger and journalist from Rostov-on-Don, has filed a brief appeal against the verdict pronounced in his case. This was reported by advocate Elena Dragunova. The conditions of detention of the journalist and observation of his rights in penitentiary institutions were taken under systematic monitoring. This was stated by a member of the regional public monitoring commission.

On November 27, the brief appeal was filed by advocate Yuri Kastrubin, who defended Sergey Reznik at trial. The appeal states that the court's verdict is unlawful, unjustified and appealable. The complete appeal will be filed after the verdict is presented to the defence, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to Elena Dragunova.

In total, starting from August 2012, five criminal cases were instituted against the journalist. The investigation into the two remaining criminal cases against him is still underway, the RAPSI (Russian Agency of Legal and Judicial Information) reports.
