Six persons injured in a brawl near mosque in Dagestani Leninkent
As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, this morning parishioners were again not let into the central mosque, located in Leninkent, a suburban township of Makhachkala. It caused a clash, in which six persons were injured.
According to eyewitnesses, about 11 o'clock in the morning, when the parishioners of the mosque tried to go to a prayer, they were stopped by men in civilian clothes, who did not let them in; many believers were beaten.
The press service of the MIA of Dagestan has confirmed that the incident occurred among Leninkent locals. "This is a development of the situation around the mosque in Leninkent. We have information that people suffered from stab wounds," Fatina Ubaidatova, the spokesperson of the MIA, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to Ms Ubaidatova, six persons were hospitalised with stab; two of them are in grave condition. According to her story, the conflict during the Friday prayer in the mosque burst out among the adherents of the so-called "traditional Islam" and Salafis.
"Such conflicts had occurred in the township earlier; however, we managed to avoid bloodshed. It's not yet known who was the first to attack," she said.
