Premier Bidzina Ivanishvili promises to resign on November 24

On November 24, Bidzina Ivanishvili, Prime Minister of Georgia, intends to resign from his post. He has announced that at the press conference held on October 28.

"On November 24, the meeting of the 'Georgian Dream-Democratic Movement' Party is to be held, at which I will not only resign from my position of Prime Minister, but I will also drop out of politics," Bidzina Ivanishvili has stated.

He has reported that at the end of the week, he is going to discuss the candidacy of his successor as the Prime Minister with the political council of the "Georgian Dream" Party. On November 2, following the consultations with the parliamentary majority made up of MPs from the ruling coalition, Bidzina Ivanishvili intends to make the name of his successor public.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has drew attention to the fact that with the inauguration of the new President of Georgia, the new model of the Constitution shall enter into force, and in this regard, the government shall resign and receive a vote of confidence in the Parliament.

Bidzina Ivanishvili has reported that he will go out of politics to civil society with a view to strengthen it, and from the new position he will oversee the activities of the authorities and, if necessary, to point to their mistakes.
