CEC: by preliminary data, Ilham Aliev won 84.94 percent of votes
According to the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan, the incumbent President Ilham Aliev wins the presidential race with 84.94% of all the votes.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Azerbaijan has finished the presidential election at 7:00 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. Moscow time); then, the local election commissions began counting the votes.
According to preliminary data of the CEC, Ilham Aliev, who was nominated by the ruling party "Yeni Azerbaijan" has won the vote with 84.94% (556,826) votes, the "Trend" reports.
The candidate of the oppositional National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) Jamil Gasanli has won, according to preliminary data, 4.1% (26,875 votes). The counting of ballots continues, the "News-Azerbaijan" reports.
As of 5:00 p.m. local time, the voter turnout made 3,439,629 voters, which made about 66.84% of all the voters.
