Vladikavkaz hosts exhibition of Chechen painter on war and human rights topics
On June 11, the National Museum of North Ossetia opened an exhibition of the Chechen painter Rustam Sardalov that is a reflection on the topics of Chechen war and human rights violations. The museum has exposed about 50 works of the painter.
Rustam Sardalov was born and grew up in Grozny, but now he lives in Europe in the status of an illegal immigrant. His creative biography lists exhibitions in Rostov-on-Don, Moscow, Belgium, Italy and Grozny, as well as cooperation with the regional publishing house "Phoenix" as an illustrator.
The exhibition in Vladikavkaz was organized by the Contemporary Art Centre with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications of North Ossetia.
Galina Tebieva, the director of the Contemporary Art Centre, said at the opening of the exhibition that the project is a landmark in the activities of the North-Caucasian branch of the Centre.
Rustam Sardalov's mother was invited to the opening of the exhibition, since the painter cannot legally cross the border because of his status.
