North Ossetia: doctor accused of baby-selling placed under home arrest

Valentina Tedeeva, the chief physician of the maternity ward of the Republic's ClinicalHospital, accused of selling a child, was put from custody into home arrest because of her health problems, Eduard Gusov, an assistant to the head of the Investigating Department for North Ossetia, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Let us remind you that according to the investigation, Tedeeva was detained on April 6 when trying to sell a baby abandoned by its 15-year-old mother. At night on April 10, Tedeeva was hospitalized with hypertensive crisis, but on April 16 she was transferred to the SIZO (pre-trial prison) in connection with her official indictment of selling a baby.

Now the baby in question has been returned to its mother. According to Eduard Gusov, the criminal case is not yet at the court, as the investigation continues. According to law enforcers, a criminal grouping, selling infants, was active in the republic.

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of Valentina Tedeeva regarding allegations of selling a baby. Earlier, her sister Zalina said that Tedeeva believed the incident was just a misunderstanding.
