Relatives of soldiers who died in army hold protest in Armenia

Today, in Armenia, in front of the presidential palace, a protest action was held, which was attended by relatives and friends of soldiers perished in the army. Participants of the protest action demanded a fair investigation into deaths in the army.

The protest action was organized by relatives of Officer Artak Nazaryan, who died on July 27, 2010. Among the participants of the protest action, there were parents of military men, accused in the case, and NGO representatives. In total, the protest action was attended by up to 100 persons, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Tsovinar Nazaryan, the sister of the deceased officer, told the audience that the protest action was aimed at drawing the authorities' attention to the unjust, according to the victim party, trial of the case of the death of her brother, who died in the military unit "Megrabner" of the Tavush Region of Armenia.

According to Tsovinar Nazaryan, the trial, which lasts for more than a year, has failed to consider those "dark" moments of the incident, which are always pointed by the victim party.

She was also supported by Manvel Mkhitaryan, the father of one of the defendants, accused of bringing Artak Nazaryan to suicide.

"Like relatives of Lieutenant Nazaryan, I believe that he did not commit suicide, but he was killed. However, the guilty persons are not those men, who sit on the prisoners' dock for nearly 2.5 years, but other persons. I believe that the real culprits are free," he stated.
