In the third quarter of 2012, 383 persons fell victims to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

In the third quarter of this year, at least 383 persons suffered in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of these, 242 persons were killed, and at least 141 were wounded. These are the results of calculations of the "Caucasian Knot" based on own materials of the edition and information from open sources.

The death toll of 242 persons includes 131 persons, declared to be members of illegal armed formations (IAFs), 78 power agents, and 33 civilians.

The number of 141 wounded persons includes 105 power agents, 29 civilians, and 7 suspected members of the armed underground.

One should understand that the above statistics cannot reflect with absolute accuracy the number of victims in each of the identified categories of the survey. Not all the data get into news reports. It is not always possible to verify the reliability of statements made by law enforcement bodies.

Dagestan remains the "hot spot" there, during July, August and September, at least 204 persons fell victims to the armed confrontation. Of these, 147 persons were killed and 57 were wounded. The death toll includes 27 civilians, 40 power agents, and 80 persons, who, according to the law enforcement agencies, were involved in the activities of illegal armed formations (IAFs). The number of wounded persons includes 14 civilians, 40 power agents, and 3 suspected militants.

In Ingushetia, at least 83 persons suffered. Of these, 41 persons were killed and 42 were wounded. The death toll includes 19 power agents, 18 persons, who, according to the law enforcement agencies, were involved in the armed underground, and 4 civilians. The number of wounded persons includes 30 power agents, 3 persons, who, according to the law enforcement agencies, were involved in the armed underground, and 9 civilians.

In the territory of the Chechen Republic, at least 57 persons fell victim to the armed conflict. Of these, 26 persons were killed and 31 were wounded. The death toll includes 1 civilian, 15 power agents, and 10 people who, according to the law enforcement agencies, were involved in the armed underground. The number of wounded persons includes 1 civilian, 29 power agents, and 1 suspected militant.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, at least 35 persons fell victim to the armed conflict. Of these, 25 persons were killed and 10 were wounded. The death toll includes 3 power agents and 21 persons, who, according to the law enforcement agencies, were involved in the armed underground, and 1 civilian. The number of wounded persons includes 5 power agents and 5 civilians.

In the territory of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, in July, August and September 2012, 3 persons fell victim to the armed conflict. 2 suspected IAF members were killed, and 1 soldier was wounded.

In Karachay-Cherkessia, 1 person fell victim to the armed conflict a policeman was killed.

In the territory of the Stavropol Territory, no one suffered.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that in the second quarter of this year, at least 355 persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of these, 169 persons were killed and at least 186 wounded. In the first three months of this year, at least 258 persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of these, 163 persons were killed and at least 95 were wounded.
