Problem of oil spills is under discussion in Baku

Non-government organizations (NGOs) of Azerbaijan and Georgia discussed the problem of oil spills and the problem of getting the public to take part in their prevention.

The forum, arranged with the support of the international NGO Crude Accountability, was held in Baku on February 13 and 14, reported Interfax-Azerbaijan.

"Countries of the Caspian region do not have enough resources to prevent oil spills and liquidate their consequences. Therefore our goal is to draw the public's attention to this problem," said a representative of Crude Accountability, Michelle Kinman.

Forum participants familiarized themselves with real and potential sources of pollution in the Caspian region, with results of monitorings conducted by different organizations in the field of oil spill prevention, and so on.
