Pickets with the demand of publicity in reconstruction of the Astrakhan Kremlin passed off in Astrakhan

On July, 3, four persons held pickets near Astrakhan Kremlin as a sign of protest against closedness of information about restoration works carried out there. One of the picketers, Alexander Kirpichenko, was detained.

Picketer Alexey Tiurin told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the reason for the pickets was that "none of the townsmen could receive any information" about the restoration works of the historical site going on.

"As civil activists we tried to receive complete documentation on the project, including layout of the future communications and the estimate on the project, from "Nasledie" ("Heritage") company managing these issues as well as from "Renaissance" regional construction company", he said.

Tiurin explained that there was no information on the Net with the exception of the one of deforestation in the territory of the Kremlin. According to him, all the attempts to obtain documents on the scope of work carried out in the historical site failed.

Another single-person picket was held by activist Vladimir Malyshev. He explained that he had appealed to many bodies of authority, including I.M. Kuznetsov, Head of Department of Maintenance of cultural heritage and development of cultural tourism, asking to familiarize him with design documents on reconstruction of objects of Astrakhan Kremlin within the framework of control of objects of cultural and historical significance.

"As a citizen of Russia I am concerned about the fate of historical memorials of our motherland. Concealment of documents and information about the works in process is, in my opinion, the best proof of the fact that "distribution" of budget funds is going on", he declared.

Alexander Kirpichenko and Mikhail Anisenko also held pickets near the Astrakhan Kremlin. They explained that they demanded publicity and openness about all kinds of works carried out in the territory of historical sites in the city from the Administration of Astrakhan.

Chief of the Police of public security of Department of Interior Affairs of Astrakhan lieutenant colonel of police Nicolay Vasin who came up to Alexander Kirpichenko reproved him pointing out that the picketer was explaining the point of the action to people passing by. Alexander asked the police officer to introduce himself after which he was detained.

According to Sergey Kozhanov, Coordinator of "Another Russia", Kirpichenko is incriminated to organizing of a meeting.
