Policeman injures schoolboy in Karata, Dagestan

Today, in the village of Karata, Zaur Djalilov, an officer of the Akhvakh ROVD (District Interior Division) of Dagestan, wounded an 11 for pupil of the Karata Secondary School No. 1, said Saipudin Saipudinov, a local villager.

"The incident happened at about two o'clock in the morning. Young guys quarrelled on something, and a scuffle burst out. Policemen arrived at the place of the incident; and one of them - Zaur Djalilov - opened fire from his service pistol. A bullet got in the head of Imadibir Makhiev, 16, who was urgently hospitalized. Neurosurgeons from Makhachkala made a surgery. Now Makhiev is in coma; his condition is assessed by physicians as extremely grave," said Saipudinov.

The reception ward of the Central Akhvakh District Hospital has confirmed the grave condition of Makhiev.

The fact that the policeman was detained was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Fatima Ubaidatova, the acting head of the press service of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). "The case is under internal investigation; and other comments will be given only after it's over," said Ubaidatova.
