In Makhachkala, police refuses to initiate criminal case on schoolboy beating, mother of teenager asserts

In Dagestan, mother of a beaten schoolboy demands to institute criminal proceedings against pupils, who beat him, and argues that the police department refuses to initiate criminal case on the incident.

On December 7, 2011, Islam Rabazanov, the 11-form pupil of the school No. 6 of the village of Novy Khushet, went back home with traces of beatings. This was reported by Zhariyat Alieva, the mother of the teenager. According to her, he had a fight with the pupils of his school, and he was hospitalized.

In late February, the prosecutor's office of the Lenin District of Makhachkala brought the case to the District Magistrate Court. The parents of the beaten pupil do not agree with the fact that the case is being considered by the Magistrate Court, and they insist that the criminal proceedings should be instituted against pupils of the school No. 6.

"The fight occurred not at the school, and we cannot monitor what our pupils do after their lessons. No matter, where the fight had occurred I condemn it. We met all pupils involved into the fight and had explanatory conversation with their parents," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Zumriyat Mameeva, Principal of the school No. 6.
