"Caucasian Knot" sums up its contest for best Facebook posts about Russian presidential election

The contest of stories and comments hosted on the social network Facebook on the topic "The Choice of the Caucasus" held among its readers by the Internet medium "Caucasian Knot" is over. As a result, most of the votes were cast for the comments posted by the reader with the nickname Abu Hurayra, and by Isa Musaev and Yulia Alyatina.

At the first phase of the contest, from February 20 to March 5, stories and comments of our readers, posted under news items of the "Caucasian Knot" or on the wall of our edition in the Facebook, were brought together on a separate page in this social network. In the course of the second phase of the contest, which ended on March 5 at midnight, the top ten nominees for the final voting were defined by the number of "likes" awarded by other users.

The third phase of the contest lasted on March 6-15 inclusive, when readers of the "Caucasian Knot" voted for the messages chosen during the first two stages.

The winner of the contest decided by the voting, where 2673 users took part, was the reader of the "Caucasian Knot" with the nickname Abu Hurayra, who answered the questions: "What can you say about this election? Are you satisfied? How was this event in your city? And what do you think will happen next?" as follows:

"Yulia Alyatina, you have beautiful dream :) here, the local power is based on relations of families, relatives and clans. No outsiders, even other Caucasians, are tolerated. So, they just followed the tradition – voting for 'Edro' ('Edinaya Rossiya') and Putin is in their blood," Abu Hurayra said in his post and won 1369 votes (51.22% of all the votes).

The second place went to Isa Musaev, who spoke about the hunger strike in the city of Lermontov. "In my opinion, this election was more honest than the Duma ones. Except that Putin had no rivals," he expressed his opinion after reading the material "City Council candidates stop their hunger strike in Lermontov". This comment won 706 readers' votes (or 26.41% of all the votes).

The below message of Yulia Alyatina posted on the Facebook in response to the questions "What can you say about this election? Are you satisfied? How was this event in your city? And what do you think will happen next?" won the votes of 188 readers (7.03% of all the votes):

"It would be strange to expect another balance of political forces; although, of course, many, including myself, were hoping that a miracle would happen; and more people would vote not for Vladimir Putin but for some other candidate. It is sad that the regions of the Caucasus, unlike other regions of the country, are still notable for their dramatically high percentage of votes for stagnation, not for real changes. In this region, apparently, we have a vicious circle – until the local power changes for a more humane one, the power in Russia won’t change; and the local power won't change until the state power changes in Russia. I hope, however, that by the next election (and 6 years is a long term), the situation will change right in the Caucasus; and people will vote for the person, whom they see helpful, and not for the one to suit the local power," noted the author-the third place winner.

Readers of the "Caucasian Knot" defined the winners. The authors of the three winning comments – Abu Hurayra, Isa Musaev and Yulia Alyatina – will be awarded. The winner will receive a digital photo camera Kodak EasyShare M53, the second and third laureates will receive external hard drives Transcend 500 Gb and 320 Gb, respectively.
